Patricia Gordan grew up in Scarborough, on land her family has owned since the late 1700's. She participated in band (playing saxophone) and chorus in the Scarborough School system. She was also a member of The Lewis Corporation (TLC), a select show choir. She participated in District and All State honors music festivals. Senior year she was awarded the John Philip Sousa award in band.
Patricia earned her Bachelors in Music Education at the University of New Hampshire, majoring in voice and singing in the UNH Concert Choir and Women's Choir. She also participated in the UNH Wildcat Marching Band (Rah!) as a member of the color guard. (flag twirlers) For a brief time she was the lead singer in a rock band called "Round Trip." (Yes, kids, it's the truth!)
Patricia taught one year in Pownal before coming to Raymond in January of 1984. For several years she has had the joy of teaching some children of former students! At the present time she teaches Pre-K through 4th grade general music and 3rd/4th grade chorus at Raymond Elementary School, and general music classes one day a week at Windham Primary School.
In 2008, Patricia was selected as a Unum Portland Pirate Starting 6 Educator of the Year. In 2015 she was selected as the Maine V.F.W. District 10 Educator of the Year. She has been an active member of the Maine Arts Leadership Initiative for three years. She has been a clinician for many years, presenting workshops for music teachers around the state of Maine.
