Katherine Herrle grew up in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, where she played clarinet and saxophone in her school band and jazz band, as well as double bass in a community string ensemble. In 2014, she graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, focusing on saxophone as her primary instrument. She is currently pursuing her Master of Music in Music Education through Boston University’s online program.
Ms. Herrle spent the first four years of her career at a small school in Vermont where she taught grades 7-12 concert band, jazz band, chorus, and general music. While in Vermont, she performed in pit orchestras for The Wizard of Oz, Grease, and Beauty and the Beast, playing alto saxophone, clarinet, electric bass, and flute. She also acted as manager for the District VI Middle School Jazz Band in 2017.
Joining the RSU 14 faculty for the 2019-2020 school year, Ms. Herrle is excited to conduct the band and orchestra at Windham High School, as well as teach elective classes in piano and guitar.
